GREAT ALTERNATIVE TO IN GROUND POOL May 5, 2010 C. Dunn (CA USA) 11 out of 12 found this review helpful
I have had this pool for three years now, I had the smaller one before that. It is wonderful. The key is to buy the saltwater filter. If you do this it is easy to maintain, and NO CHEMICALS. I live in southern California and it gets HOT in the summer. This pool goes up in MAY and down In September. I run the pump 24/7 to keep it crystal clean, and never notice it on my electric bill. Try that with an in ground pool!
Intex Easy Set 18-Foot-by-48-Inch Round Pool Set August 21, 2010 kastagan 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have been a 20 year owner of an 18' above ground pool, and mid summer this year, the side of my pool exploded sending all the water and pool toys barreling across the yard. We were just beginning to really enjoy the summertime swimming, and I didn't have the money right now to buy a new above ground swimming pool, so I was looking for an alternative. After weeks of shopping and reading and studing, I came across this pool the Intex Easy Set 18-Foot-by-48-Inch Round Pool Set with deluxe maintenance kit and deceided to give it a try. I recieved the pool the day that they said it would arrive. I unpacked it, followed the simple step-by-step instructions on the DVD, and set up my pool(you will need 2 people). It was very easy. I had read some of the reviews and was a little worried that it would not be up to my standards. I was extremely impressed. The pool is made of a thick, durable, tough material. The pump is no where near the powerhouse of the above ground pool pumps that I was used to, but for the price... it works great! I leave my pump running all day and well into the night. The deluxe maintenance kit is a must have, to be able to enjoy your pool all summer long, it has to stay clean and this kit will make keeping your pool clean alot easier on you. If you need a pool to splash around in, and don't have the money or space for a permanent above ground pool, I would highly recommend this pool for you. It also has a few nice features for the safety of children. But..YOU ABSOULETY MUST HAVE A LEVEL SPOT TO PLACE YOUR POOL....OR THE POOL WILL LEAN TO THE LOW SIDE AND WILL NOT FILL UP CORRECTLY.
Intex EasySet Pool August 9, 2010 David McKesson Quick shipping. Product is quite durable for a cheap quick & installation. No problems encountered. Setup took a couple hours, filling took 7 hours and then ready to go.
Awesome - Best pool ever August 16, 2010 MaryinHatfield This was the best buy of the summer. Got it from Amazon for a little under $400.00 with everything included, pool, ladder, pump, test kit, vacuum, skimmer, all the instructions you will ever need and NO shipping cost. Couple of tips: Make sure when you set it up, you take time to level the ground under the pool. We set ours up late in the season and our backyard is flat as a pancake, or so we thought. We just picked the most likely place and set up the pool (took no more than a half hour, honestly) The ground was not exactly level so one side filled to the rim and the other side did not, so we didn't get the full 48" We decided to leave it for this year and level the ground next year. The pump works great and the chlorine required for this pool is minimal. We may look into the salt water pump for next year. The only thing I would change would be the ladder. It's fine but hubby is 6'4" and 250 pounds and the ladder is not as stable as I would like. We may try to find something different for next year.
All in all, one of the best purchases I ever made, the grandkids love it. Ages 6, 2 and 9 months and my daughter and her husband love to visit. No need to entertain the kids or take them out and spend money. A few dollar toys, a late day barbeque and life just doesn't get any better.
All we need to do at the end of the season is drain it, and put it away until next year. No winter maintenance!!!
Enjoy
swimming in maryland August 27, 2010 sandy I was relunctant at first to review this product until the summer was over...all in all, this has been an enjoyable and wonderful experience for a first time pool owner....I am spoiled now, and I don't think I want to be without one for the next summers to come....hopefully this will work out next summer...
I purchased the 18'x48" Intex easy set pool at the end of June..we have used this pool daily since it went up with the exception of a few rainy days....it took us longer to level the ground than it did to put the pool in place. We used sand as the leveler and it worked out great. It took about 10 hrs to fill (we have a well) and only about 3 days of 90+ weather to get the temp up to 88degs!!
It has been easy to maintain...the hardest was to figure out the amount of chemicals...what worked for us was a floating chlorine dispenser (I used two 3" tablets per week), 1/2 bag of shock per week, and 15ml of algaeside diluted in a gallon jug per week and a new filter) We had crystal clear water all summer and the testing was always within the normals. I couldn't believe how easy it was to maintain....only had to vacuum once (after a storm left a bunch of leaves in the bottom)....I did get a small net to get the daily bugs out with from a local pool company. The skimmer that came with the pool did the larger insects just fine.
My husband was not a firm believer in purchasing this pool, but now that he has had the whole summer to enjoy it, he finally said this week that he is glad we got this pool and how much he has enjoyed it...looking forward to next year...
Hope this will help someone else who is interested in purchasing a pool...this certainly is an easy way to figure out if a pool is something that you would want and you are not out thousands of dollars to figure that out...
