Product Description
Names for the Chokwe people of Central Africa, the Spyderco Chokwe is a stat-of-the-art folding knife inspired by their historical tribal fixed-blade. It retains the traditional triangular blade profile and coffin-shaped handle, but expresses them in high-tech materials. The Chokwe's blade is CPM-S30V stainless steel and flat ground for cutting performance. One handle scale is black G-10 laminate supported by a stainless steel liner. The other scale is machined from solid titanium and forms the foundation of the Chris Reeve R.I.L. (Reeve Integral Lock) that locks the blade open. Both handle scales are pierced with circular holes that reduce weight, increase grip texture and allow the knife to be lashed to a longer handle or pole. An hourglass-shaped clip configured for tip-down, right-hand carry ensures that the knife will always be ready when you are .

Knives have existed as essential survival, agricultural, spiritual, and culinary tools for ages, and for every culture on Earth. This is why innovative cutlery company Spyderco established its Ethnic Series of folding blades, honoring specific types of historically significant cultural knives.

The Chokwe is one of these knives, named after the eponymous people from the Zambia/Democratic Republic of Congo region of Central Africa. Primarily agricultural, the Chokwe are gatherers, fishermen, and hunters, and also happen to be a people who revere their knifemakers and blacksmiths. The Spyderco Chokwe is a folding knife patterned on a Chokwe fixed blade knife used daily for feeding, harvesting, and protection. This knife mimics the originals' triangular blades and rectangular handles, updated with CPM-S30V steel, flat-ground for cutting performance.

The handle is made of lightweight yet durable black G-10 material, with bored out handle holes to reduce overall weight, and enabling through-holes for attachment to a longer handle or pole. Full length internal metal liners reinforce the locking device, a Chris Reeve-style integral lock. When it's time to be on the move, a metal hourglass clip carries the Chokwe tucked safely in a pocket tip-down and right-handed.

About Spyderco
Thinking beyond established knife industry practices has allowed Spyderco to introduce new innovations, including one-hand opening, serrations on a folder, and a clip to attach a knife to a pocket. Spyderco remains dedicated to researching and developing improved, better-performing materials with function and reliability, and its unique cutlery line is a result of designing ergonomic, functional tools. The company puts its new products through rigorous testing prior to release, examining edge retention with a CATRA machine, looking for rust development with Q-FOG, checking the force needed to open and close a knife, and analyzing numerous other technical details.
